Most people are aware that yoga has been around for many years. It in fact dates back many thousands of years. It has increased in popularity in recent times because of its ability to bring a sense of calm to the chaos of modern living.
Yoga means union or joining together.
This could be viewed as joining together mind and body. When you are regularly practising yoga you will probably find that it influences your every day life, in terms of making you calmer and more relaxed.
There are many different types of yoga, and much of yoga has been passed down the generations from teacher to teacher, therefore Katie teaches Hatha Yoga which involves mastering poses and controlling the breath. The postures improve flexibility, balance, and poise, physical and mental health. They stretch and flex muscles and the skeletal frame, organs glands and skin are greatly stimulated.
Katie has been a fitness instructor for over fifteen years and has been teaching Yoga since 2002 when she qualified with the British School of Yoga. She is currently studying for her ante and postnatal qualification and Advanced Instructor module. She is also qualified to teach aerobics, aqua aerobics, and pre and post natal exercise. She has 4 children and feels that yoga is a wonderful form of exercise which keeps the body mobile and the mind relaxed! hopefully you will find that yoga has a positive effect on your life.
